Nashua celebrates 40 years since the company first started operating in South Africa and looks to firmly establish itself as not only a market leader in office automation, but also Managed Document Services.

2007

An outsourcing and TCO department is launched. This is the company’s first step towards shifting its focus from products to Managed Document Services (MDS).

2000

Nashua enters the millennium as South Africa’s largest office automation supplier.

1998

The Nashua Group of companies’ turnover exceeds R1 billion.

1997

Nashua (Pty) Ltd pioneers the introduction of digital copier technology by launching the Aficio range of Ricoh digital copiers, and achieves a massive 50% market share in the launch year.

1993

Reunert acquires Nashua (Pty) Ltd in the unbundling of the Barlows group.

1992

Nashua sponsors golfing sensation Ernie Els, launching him on his international professional golfing career. In the same year, Nashua’s schoolboy valentine TV advertisement is voted the world’s second most enjoyable ad at Cannes

1983

Nashua South Africa becomes the market leader in the South African photocopier market with a 35% market share. Nashua is acquired by the Barlows Group.

1980

Nashua’s marketing initiatives result in attaining approximately a 25% share of the South African photocopier market. The company’s public image, awareness and popularity are further enhanced through a pioneering foray into sport sponsorship.

1979

Nashua South Africa begins the first of its many innovative marketing strategies in the office equipment market commencing with the introduction of a series of television commercials featuring the late Orsen Welles.

1977

Nashua South Africa introduces a Major Accounts programme which provides large companies with the benefits of buying in large volumes whilst enjoying local, customised service. Nashua is the first company in its industry to establish an extensive branch network throughout Southern Africa that allows for the effective servicing of large companies.

1975

Nashua Corporation and its affiliates achieve a significant breakthrough in plain paper copying technology. The liquid toner transfer process is introduced which has several advantages over conventional methods of document preparation.

1973

Nashua Corporation establishes a South African subsidiary to market copiers and paper.
