Another fun-filled outing with the Nashua Children’s Charity Foundation

| 4 March 2013

“I am so happy today,” Thembenkosi exclaimed as he frolicked in the warm water of the Valley Of Waves during another special day at Sun City with the 32 children from Thuthukani Centre, who will remember the fun of their special treat well into the future.

Future Coaches arrived on time to whisk us away, with caring and careful driver Frans, at the steering wheel. Nashua North East’s Dean Naidoo provided the group with breakfast snacks and goody bags on the way to Sun City.

On arrival there were hugs all around from Natalie,Virginia, and Ntswaki, who planned a perfect day for all – even ensuring glorious weather. The Valley of Waves team were on hand to meet us, and under the guidance of Agrinette, umbrellas were put up, and back rests, towels, and life jackets filled our ‘camp’ as the children rushed off to the change rooms to put on their new bathing costumes (thanks to a generous gift card donation from Jet). Sunscreen was applied, life jackets shrugged on, and the children raced to the water where they spent almost the entire day.

Delish hamburgers, courtesy of Steers, drew them back to the beach for a short while. A final swim and ice creams purchased by NCCF rounded off a memorable day.

A group of happy, weary children boarded the bus for the journey home with a final snack of apples and water as they chatted away about the experiences of the day. Caregivers Vusi and Musi were stars, and are welcome to join our team anytime – nothing was too much for them. A big thank you to Teresa, Liezel, Tamsin, Alexia, and Asher, who were willing helping hands during the day. As a final surprise, each child and their carers were given a hot dog, courtesy of Nashua Limited, to take home for supper.

It was a delight to treat such a group of well-behaved and very grateful children.

We look forward to our winter visit to Sun City!
