For Rattue, a good day starts when he’s in the office at least half an hour before the switchboard comes to life. He also says that not getting distracted by low-level tasks is essential.

Don’t be a slave to technology tools

It is important to enjoy the advantages of technology without it dictating your life. Although it assists with productivity, research suggests that we’re becoming addicted to our devices.

“It’s best not to be chained to your cellphone, tablet, or inbox,” advises Rattue. “Try not to check your devices every five minutes. It can be very time consuming and distracting.”

Most executives are regular contributors to the industry press and in light of this, Rattue notes that hiring a good PR firm for support is another essential time-saver.
