NCCF Teams Up with Nashua Limpopo and Lonely Road Foundation to Plant Vegetable Gardens

| 28 August 2012

A team from Johannesburg, as well as Nashua Limpopo joined the Nashua Children’s Charity Foundation in Ga-Dikgale rural Limpopo during the weekend to undertake the planting of 64 vegetable gardens in 15 drop-in centres to assist in the feeding of 2864 orphaned and indigent children. The Lonely Road Project was our partner in this awesome effort to bring sustainable food to these children.

Arriving at each centre, the air was tangible with anticipation, and the welcome received wherever we went made the hard work most fulfilling. In all but 2 centres, the soil was prepared and ready for us to begin the planting. Trained by the Reel Gardening team, whose explanation to all made the task so simple, we set out to work. Each centre’s staff willingly joined in. Everything as it is now up to them to continue the planting process over the next 4 months and to harvest the seeds after picking crops, so that the cycle can continue.

Thank you to all who made this possible!
