Neil McKenzie visits Banakekeleni Orphanage

| 3 March 2014

After seeing the boys at Banakekeleni Orphanage playing cricket with pieces of wood for bats and buckets for wickets, Helen Fraser got in touch with Protea cricketer Faf du Plessis for assistance.

A young boy, Kamvalethu Mzinzi from KES, spends much of his school holidays mentoring the Banakekeleni children, and imparted his love of cricket on to them with a daily game.

With Faf’s assistance we handed over some kit thanks to KFC and Neil McKenzie, who acted as coach. Unfortunately Faf could not attend himself, due to his Protea commitments.

Neil has also promised to invite the Banakekeleni boys and girls to a T20 game at the Wanderers in the next season.
