Sun City 18th Feb

| 18 February 2012

Everyone had a ball and it was difficult to decide who enjoyed the day more – the children or the adults.

Phutanang Safe Home with their 32 children and 2 care-givers boarded the coach at 06h00 in Vosloorus and then called for us at Nashua Limited just before 07h00. The fun began immediately with the generous donation of Mugg and Bean muffins and juice being handed out to the very hungry group. There followed the selection of bathing costumes and the distribution of goody bags, courtesy of Dean Naidoo. The excitement grew as we approached Sun City and the oos and aahs as the children sighted the Valley of Waves resounded all around. While the Valley staff brought us towels and set up umbrellas, the children changed into their costumes, donned life jackets and were then covered with suntan cream, before the race to the water with the Daves, Robin and Matthew hot on their heels. The slides, lazy river and the wave pool kept the children happy for hours and it was hard to bring them onto the sand to enjoy a delicious lunch sponsored by Steers.

Thereafter followed more fun in the waves before it was time for ice cream and then off to the cloakrooms to change and get ready for the coach ride home. Dave H was so touched when one of the young boys said to him “NO ONE HAS EVER BEEN THIS NICE TO ME” and those words truly summed up the day. Virginia, Sun City’s Pro together with Junior, Aggy, Elias and the rest of the V.O.W. team ensured that the group enjoyed a day to remember, and Richard and his Steers team went out of their way to produce a delicious lunch for all.

These outings make such a difference to the lives of so many children and I trust that our generous sponsors realize the value of what they are doing by making these treats possible.
