Nashua Art of Fast Bowling seeks out SA’s best young cricket players

| 11 October 2016

Nashua hosted another successful Art of Fast Bowling session on Sunday the 19th of September at the Supersport Park in Centurion.

The Art of Fast Bowling seeks to identify bowling talent in schools across the northern regions of South Africa – particularly focusing on Mpumalanga, Tshwane and Gauteng East. The project is a joint initiative between Nashua, the Unlimited Titans cricket team and the High Performance Centre.

The competition allows young boys and girls from various schools to showcase their bowling skills, for an opportunity to receive expert training and support to give them a head start toward a vibrant sporting career.

This year’s event was attended by Titans coaching manager, Sibonelo Ngcobo, the CEO of Nashua Tshwane, Bennie Oosthuizen and Protea players Farhaan Behardien and Abie Morkel.

Over 60 youngsters participated, showing exceptional talent. The overall winners were, for under 15, Sheldon Watt from Springs Boy’s High bowling at 113km/h and, for under 19, Joshua Thomas from Ashton College at 106km/h. The winners received a R2000 shopping voucher for the Titans store.
