“I didn’t sleep last night because I was so excited, and I was ready waiting for the bus at 6 o’clock this morning” – just some of the comments that were heard as the children lined in excitement waiting to enter Gold Reef City Theme Park. It was a memorable day for the 200 children, none of whom have ever visited Gold Reef City Theme Park before. Thanks to the Nashua Children’s Charity Foundation, Gold Reef City and Golden Nuggett, the youngsters enjoyed a day of thrills and spills, delicious food and endless fun.
This year marked the 13th year of this annual event, which was first shared with the help of my late daughter Hayley, and it is now commemorated on, or close to her birthday each year, knowing that she is still smiling in the happiness of all the children who delight in this amazing day.
Once again this would not have been possible without all the incredible volunteers, Mandy, Gabi, Shante, Cailan, Kara, Jhana Dani, Jade, Tali, Kayla, Abida and team Gold Reef City as well as the incredible Golden Nuggett staff who assisted me in every possible way to ensure that the children had a day to remember.
