Caring is sharing at the 6th annual NCCF caregivers lunch
On Friday 26 January 2018, the Nashua Children’s Charity Foundation (NCCF) hosted their 6th annual caregivers lunch at the Hyatt Regency in Rosebank. This highly anticipated annual event is to commemorate the NCCF caregivers who continue to open their hearts and homes to many South African children in need.
The event celebrates caregiver’s shared passion and combined efforts to uplift children, all while selflessly devoting their time and income, often without remuneration. Each caregiver received a generously sponsored gift bag filled with goods from Dischem, Pick ‘n Pay and Makro Woodmead stores.
Following a warm welcome by Helen Fraser (NCCF Operations Director), Shani Krebs, award-winning author of the biography ‘Dragons and Butterflies’, shared his terrifying experiences in Thailand’s notorious Bangwang Central Prison. His enthralling life story reiterated the importance of a good education and caring parental figure in the life of an impressionable child – a need met by the NCCF caregivers on a daily basis.
Rosy Mthembu from Fountain of Love, followed by Jeanette Birrell from Tshwane Place of Safety shared their joint appreciation for the NCCF. Their sentiment was heartily echoed by all participating organisations.
Talk show hostess and entrepreneur, Felicia Mabuza-Suttle, also took the stage to encourage South African organisations and caregivers to continue in this very important and rewarding labour of love.
A special thanks goes out to all who assisted on the day and to the Hyatt Regency and Nashua (Pty) Ltd. for sponsoring this special event.
