What an incredible way to honour the legacy of Madiba by commemorating Mandela Day with twelve of the assisted Nashua Children’s Charity Foundation (NCCF) organisations represented by 72 little children and their care-givers. The event was made extra special with the presence of Danny K and Kabelo Mabelane, Mark Fish , Kerishnie Naiker and Jacques Rudolph. Of course the day would not be possible without the generosity of our sponsors. Our sponsors are the backbone of the NCCF and with so many partnering with us today, we were able to donate in excess of R400 000.00 in goods to these charities, who together care for almost 5000 children.
Pick ‘n Pay not only donated linen, clothing, toys, nappies and groceries, but prepared delicious snacks for the adults and a wonderful goodie bag for each child and to top it all, the huge cake shared by about 300 guests. Makro Woodmead gave the NCCF the opportunity of an instore collection drive which resulted in their customers purchasing and donating about R40 000 worth of goods. From Plasticland Woodmead came cases of toys, and Dischem Woodmead added their wares with loads of toiletries, nappies and baby goods. Adding to our collections, Intershu donate 450 pairs of shoes and Silver Star T-Shirts came to the party with 1100 kiddies t-shirts.
Then to mention donations from many of the Nashua, Kopano, Quince staff which included books, toys, clothing, linen and groceries. The Waverley Synagogue congregation added to the giving with groceries as well as clothing. Bayley Worldwide Removals made it possible for us to receive all the blankets and shoes by collecting, storing, and then delivering to Nashua in time for our event. X-Pose and their staff generously added underpants, blankets, groceries, toiletries and toys. And for the comfort of the children during the winter chills, Atlas Finance sponsored 500 blankets. Leap SA joined the party with their generous toy donations to the children. Mondi never lets us down – yet another pallet of boxed A4 paper as well as beanies, gloves and scarves made its way into the collection of donations. And the list grows with Pan Solutions staff contributions – groceries and clothing. And not to forget our dear friends Bidvest Waltons who are very much a part of our family of donors with this year’s contribution being a huge back-to-school stationery pack for each of our 72 little guests in addition to boxes of math sets, kokis, glue sticks and more. Zabra’s most generous donation of more than 1000 bras and 200 pairs of panties was more than we could have dreamed of.
The generosity of all involved made this 67 minutes of giving so memorable.
