It’s always been core to Nashua’s vision and mission to support South African children’s organisations uplifting communities through the Nashua Children’s Charity Foundation (NCCF) – and Mandela Day is no exception. As for the past eight years, Nashua’s Head Office in Woodmead was transformed into a donation centre for Mandela Day (18 July). Various charities supported by the NCCF gathered to celebrate the auspicious occasion and collect much-needed goods for the underprivileged.
The event was co-ordinated by the foundation’s dedicated director, Helen Fraser. It was well-attended, with celebrities such as Garnett Kruger, Helen Desbois, Litha Bam, Thabo September, Mark Fish, Andre Nel and Xolani Gwala showing their support.
Famed local singer Danny K generously donated R10 000-worth of building materials from Builders to the NCCF. This donation will be used for renovations at Caroline’s Care Safe Home, for the replacement of rain-damaged ceilings, as well as damp-proofing and painting. The much-overdue and anticipated renovations commenced on Mandela Day.
The NCCF aims to honour and celebrate the legacy of Nelson Mandela in hosting this annual event – and with their ongoing work with charities around South Africa – to pay homage to the ultimate icon of selflessness.
