NCCF takes children from Thuthukani on a Jet shopping spree – 16 Nov 2013
50 children from the Thuthukani Community Centre jumped up and down with joy when they received their Jet shopping bags and were instructed to go and have fun shopping. With willing volunteers Olivia, Gabi, Michelle, Fidelis, Nicole, Lana, Mandy, Sergio, Carina, Joan, Liz and celebrities Kabelo and Gail Mabalane, Zizo Beda, Tamara Dey and Isaac Klawansky, and former Miss SA Kerishne Naiker, the children were not short of adult assistance and delighted in the attention received.
Maria, Selo and the Jet Boulders team were on hand to help with our every need and so enjoyed having the extra celebrity assistance at the cash tills. We spent R7575.80 on the clothing shop and had the added expense of the “back to school“shop for 40 children from Ubuhle Bezwe Orphanage.
Those goods were pre-ordered, boxed and ready for our payment R10004.19 and we are looking forward to seeing the smiling faces of the Ubuhle children dressed in their new uniforms and shoes.
A group of very hungry children and adults then walked through the Boulders Shopping Centre to Nandos where Temba, Pat and team were awaiting our arrival. A boxed meal, juices and gifts awaited every child and once they tucked into their delicious meal, the adults were able to enjoy the famous Nandos platters.
A quiet lunch turned into shrieks, cheers and singing as the children showed their delight on each receiving a balloon from the beaming Nandos staff who could not thank us enough for bringing the children to eat a meal at their restaurant. With songs of praise and thanks, the happy Thuthukani group left the mall to meet their transport.
A huge thank you to our generous sponsors and all those who helped 50 children share such a memorable morning.
