The Nashua Children’s Charity Foundation (NCCF) recently visited 10 charities in Protea Glen, Soweto, to monitor the progress of repairs and renovations funded by the foundation, and to identify opportunities for ongoing support.
To date, the NCCF has spearheaded upgrades to facilities at Bubbly’s Day Care, Nana’s Day Care, Katlego Lesedi Educare, Nkosinathi Day Care, Mama’s Day Care Centre and Little Roses Early Learning in efforts to better the conditions at these integral community centres.
Of the 10 charities, Bubbly’s Day Care and Little Angels Pre-School were able to raise additional funds – beyond the NCCF’s contributions – to complete renovations to their buildings and grounds, thanks to support from parents and the community.
The visits provided an opportunity for the foundation to assess areas of need amongst their network of charities. As a result, the NCCF has pledged to assist Tholulwazi Day Care in swiftly repairing their roof after it was completely blown away during a recent storm.
The foundation also hopes to increase grocery donations to the SANTU HIV/AIDS Relief Project, ensuring all 520 children they care for are well fed. Nkosinathi Day Care is also in desperate need of a JOJO tank, which the NCCF hopes to donate in the near future.
As part of their ongoing improvement programme, the NCCF has arranged for the caregivers at Bongani Community Development Centre and Little Angels Pre-School to receive new computers from Quince Capital, a division of Nashua Limited.
The NCCF would like to thank UBER for providing transportation on the day of the visit, the caregivers and children for their warm welcome and the dedicated NCCF volunteers for their hard work throughout the visits.
