The Nashua Children’s Charity Foundation is truly blessed to have such dedicated support from the Johannesburg Junior Council, Pick n Pay Hypermarket Norwood and the many generous Mall shoppers.
This past Sunday the 3rd of November, it took all but 2 ½ hours for 60 councillors to make more than 1000 peanut butter and jam sandwiches for the children residing in the Waterwax Informal Settlement. Many live there as child headed households and the soup kitchen that we run, under the watchful eye of Busisiwe Mushwana, provides essential nutrition for almost 500 youngsters.
The sandwiches prepared by the incoming 2020 councillors (their first project as they feel their way into office) were indivdually packaged and then boxed ready to be rushed off to Waterwax to provide these children with their Sunday lunch – yes, a single sandwich each, and another for their breakfast or a school snack tomorrow.
