As the proud sponsor of the iSimangaliso MTB 4 Day, this year Nashua, one of SA’s leading business solutions provider, both powered and participated in the one-of-a-kind cycle race. The 263km route took riders through eight interlinking ecosystems from the mountains to the sea within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park World Heritage Site.
Incomparable ride
Participating Nashua employees joined teams from across Southern Africa and abroad, to experience the coastal wilderness and rich wildlife of the location, from the saddle of their bicycles while raising funds for conservation and awareness.
“This race challenges athletes in the most beautiful, natural setting, all while preserving nature. Knowing we’re playing our part, no matter how small, to retain the natural beauty and unique ecology of the area is truly worthwhile,” says Managing Director for Nashua Zululand, Shane Webster, who participated in the race.
Restoring nature
This year’s event raised more than R250 000 – a record in the race’s three year history. The funds will assist with monitoring, protecting and reintroducing game species – including rhino, elephant, buffalo, cheetah and lion – into the park. The park has cleared 14 000 hectares of commercial plantations for rehabilitation to date.
Nashua is committed to this worthy cause and the ongoing preservation of this important heritage site by supporting and encouraging the growth of the iSimangaliso MTB 4 Day.
