Tight deadlines? Here are the printer features you need

Meeting deadlines is something you need to do on a daily basis. The ability to finish work on time is important as it delivers on client expectations, boosts employee morale, and maintains your company’s good reputation. However, your team can only beat tight turnaround times if they have the right equipment to support them.

The printer is still an integral part of almost every business. To help employees keep up with the pace of the office’s productivity, it’s crucial to choose a printing machine that can move projects forward. Fortunately, printers have become more efficient than ever with some incredible productivity-boosting features readily available in most devices.

If you’re looking for a printer to increase your on-time delivery rate, here are the top features to consider, in bitesize form:

• High-speed printing
• Quality output
• Multifunctionality
• Maximum uptime
• Wireless printing

High-speed printing

If a project requires a lot of printing, speed can mean the difference between a happy team and a frustrated one. A printer will have varying speeds for pages of text and pages of images. Depending on the model, printers can produce between 30 and  80 pages per minute, which is a speed range that can greatly benefit heavy workloads.

Quality output

Tight turnaround times leave little room for mistakes. That’s why it’s important to choose a printer that consistently fulfils the required quality standards of your documents. Print quality is measured in dots per inch (dpi). A good minimum standard for printers is at least 1200 dpi but the higher the resolution, the better the quality. Keep in mind that some laser and inkjet printers only deliver the advertised resolution when you reduce the print speed.

Multifunctionality

There are two types of printers: single and multifunction. Single function printers are only capable of printing. While that’s enough for most users, a multifunction printer is definitely worth the convenience if your projects require you to scan documents, make photocopies, and send faxes.

Maximum uptime

Obviously, if you are looking for a new printer, then you want to find one that is reliable. If there are any interruptions or complex maintenance tasks, you should be confident that they will be sorted out quickly. Therefore, it is necessary to have a fast-performing printer with practically no service downtime — something a managed printer service can offer your business.

Wireless printing

What with the increase of mobility in the workplace, it goes without saying that you need a printer that gives you the freedom to print the way you want. For this reason, you’ll want to select a device that is Wi-Fi enabled. This will allow employees to print from their laptops and cellular phones, which comes in handy when they’re working on-the-go.

When your business is deadline-driven, the right office printer can be a lifesaver. Knowing what features to look for, and understanding how they can help you get the job done, is important as you scope out a new printer for your office.
