6 awesome tech for your employee training toolkit

An employee training session is a powerful thing. It can improve the performance of your workforce, keep employees engaged in their current and future role, and create a supportive workplace. Often, what separates average training sessions from the really fruitful ones are the tools used.

If you want to host a successful workshop, you need to get acquainted with the technology available to you. They let you compile your material into a format that’s right for sharing with others. Then, they enable you to present the material to your audience. Here we’ve shortlisted six of the best tools to help you deliver a solid training session that runs efficiently.

Here are some of the employee training tools you’ll find in this guide:

• Scheduling software
• Video conferencing
• PowerPoint
• Interactive whiteboard
• Projector
• The cloud

Scheduling software

Scheduling software makes it easy to sort out the admin side of developing training programmes. Most of these software have user-friendly features that allow you to book a room, and schedule employees and external trainers for the session, which can then simply be assigned to or shared with attendees. If, like many businesses, you conduct regular training, scheduling software is an excellent tool to plan your sessions in advance.

Video conferencing

At a time when remote work is on the rise, video conferencing has become more important for employee training. The lack of face-to-face communication may seem like a big barrier when you’re conducting virtual training, but many video conferencing apps like Microsoft Teams have emulated in-person interactions. They give you the ability to run virtual instructor-led training through features such as video calling, live chat, recording, screen sharing, file sharing, raise-your-hand functionality, and breakout rooms, among others.

PowerPoint

PowerPoint is one of the most common tools trainers use to design online training material. Enabling you to present text, graphics, images, video, and audio, PowerPoint is a platform that really reinforces the lessons you want to share. Almost anyone, regardless of skill level, can quickly learn how to use the software and pull together a presentation.

Interactive whiteboard

In the internet age, interactive whiteboards have beaten traditional dry wipe boards. To engage all parties, you need to deliver training content that establishes a collaborative environment between you and your audience. Interactive whiteboards let you add, remove, and edit content as you go, and invite participants to take part in training using the whiteboard. What’s more, the interactive whiteboard can connect to your fibre or wireless internet, giving you access to various sources to support your workshop such as video, articles, images, and learning tools.

Video projector

Video projectors deserve credit for being widely used in training sessions. The technology has come a long way from the clunky, low quality devices of a few decades ago. There are lots of professional-grade projectors out there, some of which can deliver a very large, bright picture from a briefcase-sized device. Modern projectors allow you to connect a smartphone or tablet to them, and show your presentations quickly and easily

The cloud

Cloud document storage solutions offer an easy way to save all of your files and folders, such as documents and images. This isn’t just to keep your training material safe from hard drive failure or other similar issues, but also to allow you to quickly access these same files from any device at any time during the workshop. The files will also be available to attendees after the workshop if they have shared cloud access.
